Carpenter Fire Station Road
Anchored Wall Design
Alpha & Omega Group provided structural engineering by provided the design and plans for temporary and permanent anchored retaining walls for an ongoing roadway project.
As part of the Town of Cary’s improvements program for Carpenter Fire Station Road, a new bridge was planned in order to support a crossing between the CSX Railroad and the NC 55 Highway. This would help to lessen traffic on the growing highway, and in order to make it possible, realigning the CSX Railroad was necessary. Temporary retaining walls were required for stormwater and erosion control while the roadway was realigned. Once the roadway had been successfully adjusted, a permanent retaining wall would be built to support the bridge and aid in continued erosion control.
A&O determined anchored envelops based on previously obtained survey data and proposed the grading and slopes for the realignment. They also designed the anchor wall system in accordance with AASHTO standards and provided the plans and calculations for submittal. Ω
