Confined Space Culvert Inspection
Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point
As a subconsultant to Dewberry Engineering, Alpha & Omega Group performed structural inspection survices for four 60-inch reinforced concrete pipe culverts located under Taxiway Lima at the Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point as part of a study regarding the environmental impact of the site.
The culverts required a confined space permit, along with two days of confined space training for the three inspectors. A&O held a pre-inspection meeting to address all confined space requirements. We provided a visual inspection of the culverts and documented structural and other defects. We included photographs of the deficiencies and provided draft and final reports indicating deficiencies and maintenance and repair recommendations for the culvert barrels, wingwalls, headwalls, waterway, and concrete slope protection structure.
