Historic Preservation
To observe, preserve and conserve buildings, objects, landscapes or other artifacts of historical significance, Alpha & Omega Group offers historic preservation services. As civil and structural engineers, we partner with local counties, municipalities, and architects to evaluate structures that need to be renovated or restored.
Historic preservation services include structural evaluation, repairs, renovations, or expansions to existing historic buildings and other structures across North Carolina. We work closely with architects and the North Carolina State Historic Preservation Office to provide the appropriate structural detailing necessary to maintain the historic character and integrity of the original construction.
Often there are no plans for these structures and in-depth field investigations are needed to determine materials of construction, framing, load paths, foundations, and condition of structural elements. There may also be a need for a preservation contractor to assist in removal of portions of wall coverings or siding to determine extent of damage and configuration of framing.
