Avon Creek Culvert Replacement

Alpha & Omega Group provided professional hydraulic modeling services to New River Engineering, PLLC, for a culvert replacement in the city of Gastonia. The culvert is located at the intersection of Woodland Avenue and Third Avenue within the floodway for Avon Creek.
A&O’s scope of service included evaluating storage upstream of the existing culvert; updating existing conditions HEC-RAS model based on the existing survey provided by NRE; creating a proposed conditions plan based on the proposed culvert size provided by the client; evaluating the use of weir or similar structure in the hydraulic model, if needed; and providing draft hydraulic narrative and supporting floodplain boundary shapefiles.
