In 2020, the DEMLR determined that an EAP did not exist for a high hazard dam that was located on the land owned by the North Carolina Museum of Art. Given its location close to two roads and several residential houses, it was deemed a high priority for the museum to develop the proper precautions in case of an emergency. A&O was called to inspect the dam as well as to develop the EAP based on the standards of the NC department of Dam Safety.

A&O performed a routine inspection and also completed a hydraulic analysis and modeling on the dam using HEC-RAS, and developed a GIS-prepared inundation map. Our staff also obtained the names, addresses and other public information in order to help the museum reach those who might be affected by the flood.

After the EAP was complete, the museum asked A&O to help teach their staff how to use the EAP that we had provided. We provided a Powerpoint presentation discussing the history and application of the EAP as well as physical copies of the document. Ω
