Wake County Sites 1 and 2
Dam and Siphons
Alpha & Omega Group was selected in April 2012 to perform structural engineering for Wake County’s dam and siphons on Sites 1 and 2.
The scope included developing construction documents, assisting with bidding, and construction administration for the installation of a permanent siphon at each dam. The work also includes meeting with and obtaining approval through Dam safety and NRCS.
A&O’s work included developing site and access drawings; construction documents for the ductile iron siphon; hydraulic calculations for the proposed siphon; structural calculations for modifications to the primary spillway; and a deduct alternate for the replacement of stem guides and other hardware. We developed project specifications, prepared an engineer’s opinion of construction cost, met with Dam Safety and NRCS to assist with obtaining approvals, assisted with bidding and construction administration, and provided closeout documents and as-built drawings.
The structural engineering services were completed on time and within original budgetary parameters. Ω
