Dam 20A
Site repairs
Alpha & Omega Group was selected to design site repairs for various locations at Wake County Dam 20A. During an assessment of the dam in 2020, A&O noted several locations along the dam and spillway that required repairs. After receiving this assessment, Wake County requested Alpha & Omega Group design and oversee the needed repairs.
The Brier Creek Reservoir exists as part of the Crabtree Creek Watershed and serves as a stormwater facility for the RDU. During inspection, it was noted that there are several issues, including erosion in the drainage swales, small trees and debris around the dam, rip rap slope protection in need to repairs, and drainage issues adjacent to the outlet structure.
Alpha & Omega Group reviewed the existing construction and field data and designed repairs for the different locations. They also provided an opinion of probable cost. They submitted the plans to USDA-NRCS and NCDENSR Dam Safety before assisting with bidding and providing construction administration. Ω
