Lake Lynn Renovation
Dam Renovation
Alpha & Omega Group was asked by Wake County to provide professional engineering services in order to renovate Dam 22B which is located at Lake Lynn.
Underwater inspections revealed that while the concrete structure was in good condition, the lake bed itself was covered with heavy sediment and debris had built up around the structure. This sediment and debris were so heavy that the slide gate had been completely buried to the point that it was impossible to assess its condition. During the initial inspection, it was found to be necessary to inspect another 25-ft around the area in order to survey how widespread the sediment was.
A&O designed repairs, prepared construction documents, assisted with the bidding and provided construction administration for the replacement. During the construction administration phase, they offered an engineer’s estimate of probable cost, and conducted on-site observations. A&O also coordinated with the diving team and other subconsultants in order to provide dredging for the lake bed. Ω
