Sanitary Aerial Assessment
Cape Fear Public Utilities Authority
As a subconsultant to WithersRavenel, Alpha & Omega Group performed a structural assessment of existing timber supports of an aerial sewer line on the east side of a bridge on Summer Rest Road in Wilmington, NC.
The support system consisted of seven sets of two timber piles with cross members to support the utility. A&O performed an inspection and assessment to determine what structural repairs would be needed to extend the service life of the supports. As part of this assessment, we developed a photographic inventory of each support and documented deficiencies of members and connections.
A&O produced a written report, including photographs, to describe and discuss all noted structural deficiencies. After the report was complete, we provided recommendations for repairs and/or replacement along with an engineer’s estimate of cost for each alternative repair or replacement. Ω
