In the spring of 2015, Alpha & Omega Group provided professional structural engineering services to inspect a pedestrian suspension bridge on the Cox Mountain Trail of the Eno River State Park, a popular place for pedestrians to visit due to the sceneic location.

The scope of services included a visual hands-on field inspection of the structure; a written report of the field findings, including photos and sketches; and repair recommendations, including a priority schedule of recommended repairs classifying each as preventative, special, or prompt action. Inspection and reporting was in accordance with National Bridge Inspection Standards and the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials’ Manual for Maintenance Inspection for Bridges.

On this inspection project, we used a drone camera to capture video footage of the bridge. This was an extremely useful tool to get images of the hard-to-reach parts of the suspension bridge. Ω
