St John’s Episcopal Church
Structural Condition Assessment
Alpha & Omega Group performed a structural condition assessment of the historic St John’s Episcopal Church for the Episcopal Diocese of North Carolina.
St. John’s is a registered historic building in Battleboro built in 1891. The building was registered due to being an untouched example of a rural North Carolina church built at the end of the 19th century. However, the unspoiled architecture of the building lead to it experiencing foundation failures, such as the bell tower’s supporting structure. As such, the diocese requested that A&O preform a structural condition assessment to determine the structural integrity and observe any deficiencies in the building that would require repairs.
The A&O Team reviewed the existing documents on the church and then came on site to check for any signs of deterioration, damage, weakness in the structure, settlement, and other signs of deficiency. They also took care to check for any clear visual problems with the façade. Once the inspection was completed, A&O compiled their findings into a report and submitted them with all photographs taken during the inspection Ω
