St Matthias Episcopal Church
Structural Condition Assessment
Alpha & Omega Group provided services for a structural condition assessment for a historic church located in Louisburg for the Episcopal Diocese of North Carolina.
St. Matthias’ was founded in 1895 to serve the recently emancipated black community in Louisburg. Over its long history it has served as a pillar of the community as well as a school. However, the building was suffering from termite damage which might have led to deeper structural issues over time. Without an inspection, it was impossible for the diocese to tell how severe the damage was. As such, they reached out to A&O, requesting an inspection as a first step to any repair work that they planned.
Alpha & Omega Group performed an in-depth inspection of the building. The team reviewed all available documentation about the structure and visually assessed the building and the façade to document any signs of damage, deterioration, or weakness. During the inspection, the team photographed any areas of note. Once the inspection was complete, A&O compiled a report complete with the photographs and submitted them to the Diocese for review. Ω
