Lake Crabtree Fishing Pier and Boat Ramp Renovations
A&O provided services for the repair of an existing boat dock and fishing pier at Lake Crabtree County Park. The existing wood deck and timber rails were experiencing significant wood decay, while the floating section of the docks was listing and needed additional support floats. Due to the severity of the decay, Wake County had closed the boat dock for public safety concerns.
In order to repair the damage, new aluminum gangways and replacement approaches for the gangway connections were installed on both structures. The decks and timber were resurfaced with composite decking, and galvanized pipe picket rails were installed. The replacement approach rails were made of timber and infilled with coated chain-link fence to improve stability.
A&O delivered design development, construction drawings, and specifications showing plans for the repairs. We also developed an engineer’s opinion of probable construction costs. During the construction phase, we provided bidding assistance and construction administration services for the completion of both structures. Ω
