Neuse Crossings Pedestrian Bridges
Design and Replacement
Alpha and Omega Group is is currently providing structural engineering services for the design and replacement of two pedestrian structures located in the Neuse Crossings subdivisions of Raleigh.
The prior structures provided foot access along existing walking trails. However, they were within the FEMA floodway, causing them to be washed out frequently by storms to the point that the bridges were eroded. Both bridges needed to be relocated and replaced for the safety and convenience of the residents.
A&O lead a team to provide a topographic survey, geotechnical investigation and environmental site review, We provided an H&H study to achieve a no rise/no impact condition for the first bridge and a detailed FEMA flood study (CLOMR) for the second. We also created the structural design for two six-foot wide, single span prefabricated still truss pedestrian bridges with timber decking as well as construction administration and observations and bidding services.
