Raven Rock Pedestrian Bridge
Replacement of a Pedestrian Bridge
Alpha & Omega Group was selected in the fall of 2005 to perform structural and hydraulic engineering services for replacement of the Campbell Creek Pedestrian Bridge in Raven Rock State Park.
The pedestrian bridge is part of the Campbell Creek Loop Trail and has a clear width of six feet approximately 184 feet in length. It consists of cast-in-place concrete footings with timber post and beam substructure, 52-foot structural glue-laminated timber center span, 2”x12” pressure-treated wood deck joists, composite wood decking, and a pressure treated wood railing system including a composite wood top rail and handrail.
Hydraulically, the bridge elevation was set to provide one-foot clearance above the published 100-year flood elevation documented in the FEMA FIRM mapping. As a result, the entire floodplain was crossed.
This project was completed on time, within budget, and without change order. Ω
