Alpha & Omega Group was contacted by the City of Raleigh as part of an existing on-call agreement to convert several existing structures from timber to either concrete, or to fiber reinforced polymers (FRP).

Due to time and the elements, the timber decks have deteriorated, become slippery when wet, and are causing a safety concern for pedestrians. Replacements are necessary to repair deterioration and to prevent safety concerns. Structures 202, 237,238, and 239 will have their decking replaced with FRP grating and a skid resistant surface, while Structure 300’s decking will be replaced by concrete.

Alpha & Omega Group is currently providing a review of all pertinent data for the structures. They are also providing structural design, erosion control design, and developing construction details, documents, and plans. They will be preforming structural analysis on all elements and providing an engineer’s opinion of probable cost. Construction is anticipated to begin in the spring of 2023. Ω
