Alpha & Omega Group provided design and construction administratoin for the conversion several existing structures from timber to fiber reinforced polymers (FRP) as part of an existing on-call agreement with the City of Raleigh.

Due to the age of the structures and the weather, the timber decks have deteriorated. They now become slippery when wet which could pose a danger to pedestrians and cyclists. Replacements were deemed necessary to prevent both the growing safety concerns and the difficulty of maintaining timber structures. As such structures 202, 237,238, and 239’s decking are being replaced with FRP grating and a skid resistant surface.

Alpha & Omega Group provided a structural analysis and review of all pertinent data. The team has also completed structural design and erosion control design, as well as construction details, documents, and plans for all structures. They offered an engineer’s opinion of probable cost and is provided construction administration and observation. Ω
