As part of the site development for the renovation of Lincoln Heights Elementary School in Fuquay-Varina, NC, A&O provided both on-site and off-site roadway improvement designs. The on-site improvements included designs for a new bus loop, extended carpool lanes, loading dock, and service entrance. Off-site improvements were designed for Washington Street and Bridge Street.

The Washington Street improvements included widening 650 feet of the existing roadway to incorporate an exclusive bike lane, add curb and gutter, sidewalk and a storm drainage system.

The Bridge Street improvements included new pavement markings to provide a storage lane for carpooling and an exclusive right turn lane. We added two additional exclusive right turn lanes along Bridge Street at its intersection with Academy Street and Wilbon Road to improve traffic movements arriving and departing from the school.

Our services included erosion control design, stormwater management, roadway design, storm drainage design, pavement marking design, and utility relocation.

A&O also obtained permits and approvals from a number of state and local agencies including the Town of Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina Department of Transportation, North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality, and Wake County. Ω
